We can't thank Gurmat enough for finally giving our daughter answers

Our daughter has struggled for years, thinking there was something wrong with her! Initial assessments done at the age of 8. Now in her 20's, we made an appointment to see Gurmat at AG & Co health. It was the best decision we made and wished we had done it sooner.

Gurmat is so passionate about his work & really cares about his patients. Thank you for helping our little one

Gurmat has been a god send to us. Our little one was prescribed adhd medication without a diagnosis and we just wasn’t comfortable giving it to him without confirmation, we had a free consultation and the assessment with Gurmat just under 2 weeks later. He’s extremely knowledgeable, makes you feel very comfortable and he listens to you! He is also a fraction of the price compared to the ‘big’ companies.

Thank you for helping our little one :)

We have no hesitation in highly recommending Gurmat.

Having found ourselves unable to get a timely ADHD assessment for our 16 year old son, we did a lot of searching and Gurmat appeared to be what we were looking for. He saw us swiftly, at a location convenient to us. He was personable, professional, empathetic and articulate. His report was thorough and informative including useful contextual information and guidance.

What is autism?

Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person experiences the world, processes information, and interacts with others. The word spectrum is important—autism looks different for everyone. Some people may need a lot of daily support, while others may live more independently but still experience challenges that aren’t always visible. Common areas where autism can show up include:

Common areas

  • Social interaction and communication – things like reading social cues, making eye contact, or understanding unspoken rules.
  • Sensory experiences – being highly sensitive (or not sensitive enough) to sounds, lights, textures, or smells.
  • Patterns and routines – finding comfort in repetition, structure, or special interests.

Should I book an autism assessement?

A diagnosis can be life-changing, not because it makes you different, but because it can give clarity and open doors to the right support.

Some reasons people seek diagnosis include:

  • Self-understanding – finally having a name for lifelong feelings of being “different.”
  • Access to support – including workplace accommodations, therapy, or educational resources.
  • Community – connecting with other autistic people who share similar experiences.
  • Reducing self-blame – shifting from “something’s wrong with me” to “my brain works differently.”

Diagnosis isn’t about putting yourself in a box—it’s about finding tools and language that make life a little easier.

Common struggles of Autism

You might think about getting evaluated if you notice...

  • Struggles with social interaction or communication that have been lifelong.
  • Strong sensory sensitivities that affect daily life
  • Rigid routines or intense special interests that bring comfort but sometimes limit flexibility.
  • Constant exhaustion or burnout from masking (hiding autistic traits to “fit in”).
  • Feeling “different” without fully understanding why

If these experiences sound familiar and impact your daily life, seeking an assessment may help you gain clarity.
