ADHD Symptons

Symptons are characterised as inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Children can present with any combination of these characteristics.

ADHD presents itself differently from person to person. There is a common misconception that all people with ADHD experience hyperactivity, but this is not the case. People with inattentive type ADHD do not experience hyperactivity but instead face difficulties with attention and this may result in forgetfulness, being disorganised, difficulty focusing and excessive mind wandering. Research shows that many children with predominantly inattentive symptoms tend to go undiagnosed through childhood and may be missed by school teachers and professionals. Inattentive symptoms are less obvious, and produce less disruption than symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity.
